Mohamed A  Ali-Salad is a researcher at the Somali Institute for Development & Research Analysis (SIDRA) and is participating in the Wits-Edinburgh Sustainable African Futures (WESAF) Doctoral Programme.


Jecinta Atieno Okumu holds a Ph.D. degree in medical Sociology from the University of Northumbria, (Newcastle,UK) and is the coordinator for the Cluster. Her research interests include young people, chronic illnesses, sex and sexuality; migration, globalisation, HIV/AIDS, SHRH, ethics in research and qualitative research methodologies.


Jozef Bartovic is Technical Lead, Migration and Health Programme, at the WHO Regional Office for Europe.


Zerihun Berhane is Associate Professor of Development Studies, Head, Center for African and Asian Studies (CAAS), College of Social Sciences at Addis Ababa University.


Philippe Bocquier is a professor at the Centre de recherches en démographie (Centre DEMO) of the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and Honorary Senior Researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. From 1988 to 2010, he held various research positions in Senegal, Mali, Kenya, and South Africa. He has a long experience in longitudinal analysis, using both retrospective surveys and Health Demographic Surveillance Sites data. His research interests range from urban projections to demographic transition and from urban integration to entry into adulthood.


Christelle Cazabat is Health of Programmes at the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.


Ernest Dabire is Technical Officer for Migration and Health at the WHO Regional Office for Africa.


Ilse Derluyn is a full professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy at Ghent University, Belgium. Her main research topics concern the psychosocial wellbeing of young refugees and migrants, unaccompanied refugee minors, victims of trafficking and war-affected children, both in the Global North and South. She has widely published and is also active in trainings and support for practitioners and policymakers. Ilse also gives counselling to refugees. 


Jocelyn DeJong is a professor of public health at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.


Getahun Fenta Kebede is Assistant Professor of Development Studies, Senior Social Impact Assessment Expert, Center for African and Asian Studies (CAAS), College of Social Sciences at Addis Ababa University.


Carren Ginsburg is a Senior Researcher at the Medical Research Council (MRC)/Wits Rural Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit (Agincourt), School of Public Health, WITS University.


Charles Hui is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Allergy in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. He is also the Chair of the Migration Health and Development Research Initiative (MHADRI).


Dr Amina Jama is a Senior Research Advisor at the Somali Institute for Development and Research Analysis (SIDRA) in Somalia.


Soorej Jose Puthoopparambil is a lecturer in global health and migration and programme coordinator for the master’s programme in Global heath at the Dept. of Women’s and Children’s Health at Uppsala University, Sweden. He is also head of the WHO Collaborating center on Migration and Health Data and Evidence.


İlker Kayı is a Public Health Physician working in the Department of Public Health in Koç University School of Medicine. He is the head of Committee on Social Medicine Programmes and co-coordinator of Global Health Master’s Program.


Michael Knipper is Professor of Global Health, Migration and Medical Humanities at the Institute for the History of Medicine at Giessen University in Germany


Kit Leung is a Senior Migration Health Specialist for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) based in Pretoria, South Africa, covering the Southern African region. In this role, she supports IOM operations in 15 countries and various regional initiatives aimed at promoting the health of migrants, including migrant workers.


Dr Catherine Musuva is a senior researcher at the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at WITS University and manager of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Migration & Mobility hosted by the ACMS. As part of this portfolio, she coordinates the African Academy for Migration Research (AAMR) which is developing the next generation of African migration scholars.


Dr Sonja Novak-Zezula is is ‎Managing Director of the Center for Health and Migration and Executive Partner of ‎Trummer & Novak-Zezula OG.


Joachim Osur is Professor and Vice Chancellor at Amref International University in Kenya. Prof Osur is also the Director of Regional Projects and Field Offices for Amref Health Africa.


Souad Osseiran is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc), Istanbul. She has focused on issues relating to Syrian forced displacement in Turkey including the migration journeys of Syrian refugees continuing to Europe in 2012-2013, Syrian refugee healthcare access and most recently the urban-migration nexus. She holds a PhD in anthropology from Goldsmiths College, University of London and an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford.


Tonia Rifaey is Technical Officer for Migration and Health at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean.


Mary Setrana is Associate Professor of Migration and Social Change and Director of the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Ghana.


Alison Simons is Research Manager at the Strategic Partnerships Office at WITS University. She is the WITS lead for the South Africa – Sweden Universities Network.

Jo Vearey (she/her) has a background in public health and her interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersections between migration and health. She is an Associate Professor and Director of the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at Wits University in Johannesburg. Jo also Directs the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Migration and Mobility – hosted by the ACMS – and is Vice-Chair of the global Migration, Health, and Development Research Initiative (MHADRI).
