Philippe Bocquier is a professor at the Centre de recherches en démographie (Centre DEMO) of the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and Honorary Senior Researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
From 1988 to 2010, he held various research positions in Senegal, Mali, Kenya, and South Africa. He has a long experience in longitudinal analysis, using both retrospective surveys and Health Demographic Surveillance Sites data. His research interests range from urban projections to demographic transition and from urban integration to entry into adulthood. His current research focus is on migration and health interrelationships in sub-Saharan Africa, France, and Belgium.
