Dr. Kayı is a Public Health Physician working in the Department of Public Health in Koc University School of Medicine. He is the head of Committee on Social Medicine Programs and co-coordinator of Global Health Master’s Program.

He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and completed his residency in public health at the same university in 2012. He has served as the head of the primary health care unit in a Syrian Refugee Camp in the Adıyaman Province and co-coordinator of the “Health Promotion Project for Seasonal Migrant Farm Workers and Their Families”. He has also served as the co-coordinator of a UNFPA project: “Health Promotion Project for Syrian Refugees” from 2016 to 2019.

Dr. Kayı is a member of INSEV, a nonprofit NGO in Istanbul, and was the translation editor of Social Determinants of Health (Oxford University Press, 2005), Globalization and Health: Pathways, Evidence and Policy (Routledge, 2009), and Overdiagnosis (Beacon Press, 2011) published by INSEV. He also is a member of People’s Health Movement, which is a network bringing grassroots organization all around the world working on Social, Environmental and Economic Determinants of Health.

Dr. Kayı has recently been appointed to UNESCO Türkiye Bioethics Committee. He has received a trainers’ training in research ethics from Virt2ue Ethics Program and he is member of the Social Sciences Ethics Committee in Koç University. He is also a psycho-dramatist in training. In 2015, he was awarded with a Fulbright Scholarship for the Humphrey Fellowship Program in Virginia Commonwealth University.

His research area focuses on health inequalities, health promotion, migration, and public mental health.
