The CoRE-MH co-lead – the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand – are welcoming applications to this fellowship programme.
As the ARUA Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Migration & Mobility, the ACMS will host up to four fellowships.

The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), with support from the Mastercard Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation of New York, is launching an Early-Career Research Fellowship program.
The initiative will fund up to forty-two (42) early-career researchers to conduct globally competitive research at the host and affiliated institutions of ARUA’s thirteen (13) Centres of Excellence (CoEs).
Important information:
- Deadline for applications: 15 May 2025
- At least 70% of the positions are reserved for female candidates, additional funding is available to support childcare costs during the fellowship
- Fellows must be hosted outside their country of residence
- Applicants must be 35 years or younger at the time of application
- Fellowships must start between July 2025 and January 2026
