The current status quo on migration and health data in Africa and Europe: Challenges, opportunities and the Way forward
Migration and health are closely interlinked. However, there exists no standardized mechanism to routinely collect and disseminate data related to health of refugees and migrants, as part of national health information systems. Lack of data on migrant health results in countries not being able to capitalize on the positive impact of migration nor address migrants’ vulnerability. Lack of data also creates challenges in measuring progress towards national and global targets, such as the SDGs. This webinar will take stock of the current status of migration and health data globally, with emphasis on Africa and Europe, and discuss potential way forward. Unique aspects of migration and health data within internal migration will also be discussed.
